Libra: The Family Dome With the Lake Out Front

Some lake trips are about the boat. Some are about the kids finally falling asleep so you can get in the hot tub. Libra handles both. It’s one of four domes at Falling Stars with a true lake view — and this one is incredible — with a custom-built interior and a bed layout that actually works for a family: queen on the main floor for the adults, queen and a twin up in the loft for everyone else.

Lake view from Libra dome — lakefront family glamping on Bull Shoals Lake

The View

Libra looks straight out at Bull Shoals Lake from its deck and hot tub. In the evening the water goes glassy; after dark, this corner of Arkansas has essentially no light pollution, and the Milky Way shows up over the lake the way it does in maybe a handful of places left in the country. The kids will remember the swimming. You’ll remember the sky.

Custom Inside

Libra’s interior was custom built, not ordered from a catalog — the woodwork and finish details are one-of-a-kind to this dome. You get a full kitchen (a real one, not a kitchenette), a full bathroom with hot water, an outdoor grill, a private fire pit with firewood included, and the hot tub on the deck facing the water.

The Beds

Queen on the main floor, then up an angled ladder to the loft: a queen and a twin. That’s real beds for five. Families of six make it work with a small child — email us and we’ll talk it through honestly — or step up to Leo, our biggest dome, which sleeps six in beds and adds a playroom.

The Lake Out Front

Kayaks and paddle boards rent on site for around $30 a day — no hauling gear from home — and there’s room to park a boat at the dome, with the local dock two miles away. Bull Shoals is a serious bass lake; the White River below the dam is one of the best trout fisheries in the country. Ozark Isle has cliff jumping, hiking, and bike trails for the energy that’s left over. Mountain Home is 30 minutes for supplies and restaurants; Branson is about two hours if a show night is in the plan.

What to Know Before You Book

The loft ladder is set at an easier angle than a straight ladder — kids handle it fine — but anyone who shouldn’t climb at all should take the queen downstairs. Bring groceries for the stay: the nearest store is 15 minutes away and limited, and restaurants run 10–30 minutes out. Pack shoes you don’t mind getting muddy; the lake trails earn the warning. And Falling Stars is genuinely remote — ten miles from the Missouri border on 85 wooded acres. That’s why the sky looks the way it does.
