Aquarius: The Little Dome on the Lake

Aquarius is the smallest dome at Falling Stars, and that’s its whole charm. It’s a custom-built hideout for two with a real lake view, a queen on the main floor, a hot tub on the deck, and not a square foot of space you have to pay for and won’t use. If your idea of a lake weekend is one other person, a fire, and a sky full of stars, this is the dome sized for exactly that.

Small On Purpose

There’s a particular coziness a small dome does better than a big one — the curve of the ceiling feels closer, the whole place warms up like a den, and everything you need is a few steps away. Aquarius was custom built, not assembled from a kit, and the details show it. Full kitchen, full bathroom with hot water, outdoor grill, private fire pit with firewood included. The loft holds two twin beds up an angled ladder, so a couple with a kid or two fits — but two people is the configuration this dome was born for.

The View

Aquarius is one of the four domes at Falling Stars with a true Bull Shoals Lake view, and the hot tub points at it. After dark is when this property earns its name: no light pollution for miles, the Milky Way overhead, and falling stars often enough that you stop announcing them. October through April, the sky gets even sharper.

Two People, One Lake

Kayaks and paddle boards rent on site for around $30 a day — a sunrise paddle on glassy water is the thing guests talk about after — and there’s boat parking at the dome with the local dock two miles away. The White River below Bull Shoals Dam is among the best trout water in the country if either of you fishes. Ozark Isle has cliff jumping and trails. Mountain Home is 30 minutes for a dinner out; otherwise, the whole point of Aquarius is that you don’t go anywhere.

What to Know Before You Book

It’s the smallest dome on the property — for us that’s a feature, but if you want sprawl, look at Aries, our oversized premium unit. The loft twins are up an angled ladder; fine for kids, not for anyone who shouldn’t climb. Bring groceries — the nearest store is 15 minutes and limited, restaurants 10–30 minutes out. Trails get muddy; bring shoes that can take it. And it’s remote out here, ten miles from the Missouri border — plan like it, then enjoy it.

Book Aquarius

A custom little dome, a queen, a hot tub, and the lake. On Airbnb this is the Lake View Dome on Bull Shoals, Stars & Hot Tub — same dome, and booking direct gets you the best rate and full availability.
