Dome 2 is the newest dome at The Canyon at Pond Creek, and it cost more to build than any other unit on the property — twice as much, if we’re being precise, and we usually are. Most of that went into something no other dome here has: a staircase off the deck leading down to a hot tub terrace on its own private level. Every dome on this property has a hot tub. Only Dome 2 gives it a floor of its own.

The Hot Tub Terrace
The terrain made us do it — there was no flat spot beside the deck — and the result turned out better than convenience would have. You walk down the staircase to a separate level where the hot tub sits apart from the living space. No traffic past it, nobody grilling three feet from your soak. At night, descending those stairs with the canyon dark in front of you feels less like using an amenity and more like going somewhere.
The View
Dome 2’s sightline runs along the canyon rim toward Dome 1, with the gorge falling away beyond it — one of the cooler perspectives on the property, a dome in the foreground and the canyon running behind it. Dome 3 sits 90 feet the other direction, but we positioned the hot tubs and lounging areas on opposite sides precisely so neither dome notices the other.
Room for the Whole Crew
Inside, Dome 2 matches our flagship: a California king on the main floor, two full beds up in the loft, and a queen sofa bed — six comfortably, eight at capacity. Full-size refrigerator (only three domes have one), efficiency kitchen with two-burner stove, air fryer, and microwave, outdoor grill, and a full bathroom with hot water and real pressure. Same interior as Dome 1, so for groups of ten or more, booking both is the natural move — they’re close enough to share an evening, separate enough to end it apart.
What It’s Not
Honesty corner: Dome 2’s fire pit is the most modest on the property. If a blazing fire on a dramatic rock outcrop is the centerpiece of your trip, that’s Dome 1. Dome 2’s centerpiece is the terrace — pick the dome that matches your evening.
Beyond the Dome
The property’s trails run from the rim to the canyon floor — waterfalls, blue holes, and a 100-foot cliff with 150+ bolted climbing routes below. Fall Creek Falls State Park is 25 minutes away, Savage Gulf 35, Chattanooga an hour, Nashville two. Our Pikeville area guide covers the rest.
What to Know Before You Book
The loft’s two full beds are reached by ladder — great for kids, fine for most adults. The hot tub is down a staircase from the deck; if stairs are a concern for anyone in your group, every other dome keeps the tub on the main deck. Eight is the true max and the eighth sleeps on a sofa bed. The last two miles in are single-lane gravel mountain road — AWD does fine, 4WD is better, sedans aren’t recommended. Bring groceries (nearest store is 15 minutes and limited), download maps before the gate, and expect reliable cell once you’re at the dome.
