Every owner has a favorite, and we’ll just say it: if we were splurging on an anniversary, Aries is the dome we’d book — and we own twelve of them across two states. It’s one of two oversized domes at Falling Stars, but where its big sibling spends the extra square footage on beds, Aries spends it on the two of you: 835 square feet, a king on the main floor, the best lake view on the property, and heated bathroom floors for the morning after a late night in the hot tub.
The View
Falling Stars sits on 85 acres of wooded shoreline on Bull Shoals Lake, and four of our six domes look out at the water. Aries has the best view of them all. From the deck and the hot tub, the lake stretches out in front of you — glassy at dusk, lit by nothing at night. This corner of Arkansas has no light pollution worth mentioning, which is how the property got its name. Soak long enough on a clear night and you’ll likely see a falling star without trying.
Built as the Premium Unit
The details are where Aries earns its rate. Heated bathroom floors — only Aries and Leo have them. An extended mudroom for wet swimsuits, muddy boots, and fishing gear, so the lake stays outside. A full kitchen (not a kitchenette) with an outdoor grill. King bed on the main floor — no ladder between you and sleep. Up in the loft there’s a queen and a chair that converts to a child’s bed, so Aries can technically host a small family, but it books best the way it was designed: as a two-person indulgence with room to spare.
The Lake Out Front
Kayaks and paddle boards are available to rent right on the property for around $30 a day — no roof racks, no rental-shop detour — and there’s room to park a boat at the dome, with the local boat dock two miles away. Bull Shoals is known for serious bass fishing, and the White River below the dam is one of the best trout fisheries in the country. Prefer land? Ozark Isle has cliff jumping, hiking, and bike trails. What to Know Before You Book
Aries is the premium unit at Falling Stars, priced accordingly — if you want the lake without the splurge, Eclipse has an excellent view at a friendlier rate, and Aquarius is our couples’ dome in a smaller footprint. The loft is reached by an angled ladder — easy enough, but the king downstairs means you may never use it. Bring groceries: the nearest store is 15 minutes away and limited, though local restaurants run 10–30 minutes out. Pack shoes you don’t mind ruining — the lake trails get genuinely muddy. And this is a remote stretch of the Ozarks ten miles from the Missouri border; that’s the point, but plan like it.
