About

The Canyon at Pond Creek

Leave the pavement and you've got two miles of gravel ahead — one mile to the gate, one more past it — as the road descends through wilderness onto 447 acres of Cumberland Plateau that hasn't changed much since it was coal country. From your dome's private deck, you're looking out over the canyon below — some domes face the Sequatchie Valley, others look directly down into the canyon at Pond Creek itself.

Hike to the falls. Swim the blue holes. Watch falcons ride thermals from your deck. And if you climb, there's a 100-foot cliff with 150+ routes right on the property — but you don't need to be a climber to love this place.

The property is big enough that you won't hear another soul.

You're 30 minutes from Fall Creek Falls State Park, about an hour from Chattanooga, and two hours from Nashville. AWD gets you here fine. 4WD is better.

A few more things worth knowing before you arrive.

Cell service works well at the domes for Verizon (T-Mobile users get a spottier signal). Down in the canyon at the waterfalls, you'll lose signal entirely — perfect for an unplugged swim and a phone full of pictures.

You're in real Tennessee wilderness. Expect owls at night, fireflies, and the occasional insect indoors. Part of the experience.

Storms here are safe to ride out. Your dome's geodesic shape is engineered for high winds. Stay inside during weather; the deck and hot tub are for clear nights.

Getting Here from Chattanooga

The Canyon at Pond Creek is about an hour north of downtown Chattanooga. Take US-27 North out of the city, pick up TN-111 to climb onto the Cumberland Plateau, then TN-127 the rest of the way into Pikeville. Faster than going via Dayton — quieter two-lane the whole back stretch.

Leave Chattanooga after a late lunch and you’re in your hot tub by sunset. No interstate bottlenecks, no Smokies-tourist traffic, no Gatlinburg parking circus. For full driving directions, coffee and food stops along the way, and a weekend itinerary, see our Glamping Near Chattanooga guide.

Directions

Detailed directions will be given upon booking your reservation. We recommend downloading your maps to your phone or at least a screenshot because cell service is weak right at our entrance gate. Rest assured, cell service once at the domes is reliable. As an adventure resort please know that access requires a capable vehicle. The road is a single lane mountain road with limited turn around areas. An all wheel SUV will do fine but a 4WD vehicle even better. Sports cars or sedans are not recommended. More detailed directions will be provided prior to check in. Please view the drone video of the road on the home page to help get perspective of the terrain.
