Private domes with hot tubs · 447 acres on the Cumberland Plateau · About 1 hour from Chattanooga
One weekend this fall, every couple staying at The Canyon was here for an anniversary. That keeps happening, and it makes sense. An anniversary doesn’t need a resort or a package. It needs a place far enough from ordinary life that the two of you can hear each other again.
The Canyon at Pond Creek is six private domes spread across 447 acres of canyon rim, waterfalls and woods in Bledsoe County, Tennessee. Each one has its own deck and its own hot tub. No shared walls, no lobby, no one next door.
Why couples pick The Canyon for an anniversary
- Actually private. The domes sit anywhere from 90 to more than 300 feet apart, each on its own footprint. Your deck, your hot tub, your view.
- A hot tub under a dark sky. There’s very little light out here. On a clear night the stars go all the way down to the treeline.
- Dinner on your own terms. Every dome has a kitchen, an outdoor grill and a fire pit. Cook together, eat on the deck, stay out by the fire as long as you want.
- A real bed. Three of the six domes have a king bed (ask us which when you book), plus a proper bathroom with a shower and all linens and towels provided.
- Somewhere to go together. Hike down into the canyon to the falls. There’s no cell signal down there, which on an anniversary is a feature.
Picking your dome
All six domes work for two. A few are especially good for an anniversary. Dome 5 sits cliffside with canyon views. Dome 3 opens onto the canyon through a sliding glass door. For the most seclusion, Dome 1 and Dome 4 are the most private; Dome 4 has more than 300 feet to its nearest neighbor in either direction. If you have a preference, book early; weekends go first.
An anniversary weekend at The Canyon
- Friday: Check in at 4. Unpack, open a bottle, get in the hot tub before dark and stay for the stars.
- Saturday: Slow breakfast on the deck. Hike down to Upper Falls and swim if it’s warm. Drive 15 minutes to the Fall Creek Mennonite community for sandwiches and fresh bread (cash only, closed Sundays), or 30 minutes to Fall Creek Falls State Park. Grill dinner at the dome and end the night at the fire pit.
- Sunday: Coffee, one more soak, checkout at 11.
Every season works
- Fall: Peak color across the plateau, usually late October into early November. The most requested weekends of the year.
- Winter: Cold nights, clear skies and the hot tub at its best.
- Spring: The falls run hardest and the woods come back green.
- Summer: Swim in the creek, eat outside, stay up late.

Celebrating something? If you’d like flowers or champagne waiting, ask when you book. We can’t always arrange it, but we’ll tell you up front if we can.
Celebrating in Arkansas instead?
Our sister property, Falling Stars at Bull Shoals Lake, has six domes with hot tubs on 85 acres in the Ozarks, with the lake instead of the canyon.
