IRONMAN 70.3 Chattanooga · Sunday, May 17 (2026 date; 2027 TBA) · Downtown Chattanooga · About 1 hour from The Canyon at Pond Creek
IRONMAN 70.3 weekend takes over downtown Chattanooga just like the full-distance race does in September. Hotels sell out, prices surge, athlete village runs Friday through Monday. The Canyon at Pond Creek is 1 hour north on the Cumberland Plateau — a real basecamp for the family, the support crew, and the athlete’s own recovery. 447 private acres, six glamping domes with private hot tubs on every deck.
Who this is for on 70.3 weekend
Athletes racing Sunday need downtown proximity for the 4am wake-up and 7am swim start — that’s a hotel-district decision. The Canyon is built for the rest of the weekend:
- Family and support crew. Cheering points open around the city, but family doesn’t need to be five blocks from the start line. Basecamp 1 hour north, drive in to spectate, come back to quiet.
- Pre-race training camp. Ride the plateau surrounding country, be at the athlete village Friday afternoon for check-in.
- Post-race recovery. Sunday evening or Monday morning, trade downtown chaos for 447 private acres, a hot tub on the deck, and a real bed.
