Mammoth March · Fall Creek Falls State Park · About 30 minutes from The Canyon at Pond Creek
Attending a different Fall Creek Falls event? See our lodging page for the Mountaineer Folk Festival (Sept 11-13).
Six geodesic domes a short drive from the start line. Wake up rested, hike your loop, and come back to a hot shower and a canyon view instead of a tent.
After twenty miles, a tent is a punishment.
The park lodge and campsites fill up fast, and most of them ask you to rough it twice: once on the trail and once at night. The Canyon is the other option. A real bed, hot water, a private hot tub on the deck, and 447 private acres to walk off the soreness the next morning.
- Rest. A proper bed, a hot shower, and a hot tub on every deck after eight hours on your feet. The recovery that actually makes the next day feel worth it.
- Room. 447 private acres of waterfalls and canyon rim, yours to wander. No shared bathhouse, no neighbors ten feet away.
- Close. About 30 minutes to the park, so there is no long pre-dawn haul before your time slot. Sleep in a little longer.
Built for people who like being outside.
This is not glamping for the photos. The Canyon sits on the Cumberland Plateau in Pikeville, minutes from the same terrain the march runs through. It is the kind of place march hikers actually want to end the day.
- The domes. Six climate-controlled geodesic domes with real beds and private space. Comfortable in any season, quiet at night.
- The land. 447 acres of waterfalls, canyon terrain, and plateau rim. Your own trails to loosen up on before the drive home.
- Climbing next door. 150-plus routes at Pond Creek Crag on the property, built out by hand. Bring the rack if the legs have anything left.
