Six geodesic domes on the quiet side of the Ozarks, overlooking Bull Shoals Lake — one of the cleanest large lakes in the country. 3 hours north of Little Rock. The Ozarks without the Branson neon, the Greers Ferry crowds, or the Lake Ouachita weekend boat traffic.

Why Little Rock travelers choose Falling Stars
- 3 hours, scenic drive. US-65 North through the Ozark National Forest, then US-62 / US-412 west to Oakland. Two hours of interstate, one hour of two-lane through the mountains. Leave Friday after lunch, you’re at the lake by dinner.
- Bull Shoals Lake is one of the cleanest large lakes in the country. Class AAA water clarity, world-class trout fishing on the White River tailwater, and miles of undeveloped shoreline. This isn’t a lake with subdivisions on every cove.
- The quiet side of the Ozarks. Falling Stars is on the Arkansas side of Bull Shoals — meaning fewer tourists, no Branson bumper-to-bumper traffic, no theme park signage. Just the lake, the woods, and your dome.
- Six geodesic domes, each named for a constellation. Aries, Libra, Aquarius, Eclipse, Leo, Capricorn — each with its own character and dark-sky views (the Bull Shoals area has minimal light pollution).
- Private hot tubs and full interiors. Each dome has a private hot tub on the deck, an en suite bathroom, and a complete kitchenette so you don’t have to drive to town for breakfast.
- Dark skies for stargazing. The “Falling Stars” name is literal — the property sits in a near-zero light pollution zone. You’ll see the Milky Way from your hot tub on a clear night, which doesn’t happen anywhere near Little Rock.

The drive: Little Rock to Falling Stars
Little Rock to Falling Stars at Bull Shoals Lake is about 175 miles — most travelers do it in 3 hours including a coffee stop. Take US-65 North out of Conway, through the Ozark National Forest, past Marshall and Harrison, then west on US-62 / US-412 to Oakland. The last 20 minutes wind through the foothills down to the lake.
Yes, the drive has more two-lane than interstate after Harrison — but that’s the trade. The road IS the start of the trip. Slow down, roll the windows down, you’ll feel the city peel off about an hour in.
What you do here
On and around the lake: Bull Shoals Lake has 740 miles of shoreline, most of it undeveloped. Rent a boat from one of the local marinas, fish for trophy bass and walleye, swim in water clear enough to see your feet at six feet of depth. The White River tailwater below the dam is internationally known for trout fishing — wade-fishing access right from US-178.
On property: Hot tub time, dark-sky stargazing, hammock-in-the-woods quiet, and a slow morning coffee with no neighbors. The property is meant for people who came to do nothing — or who came to fish the river and want a real dome to sleep in instead of a fish-camp cabin.
Compared to Greers Ferry Lake: Greers Ferry is closer to Little Rock (1.5 hours) and absolutely beautiful — but it’s also where every Little Rock weekender lands. Crowded boat ramps, full marinas, busy beaches. Bull Shoals trades an extra hour of driving for genuinely quiet water.
Compared to Lake Ouachita: Ouachita is the other Little Rock default — close, gorgeous water, also crowded on weekends. Bull Shoals is the same Class AAA clarity, two more hours away, and almost empty by comparison.
Compared to Branson MO: Branson is 2 hours from the property (and 5+ hours from Little Rock) and is its own thing — country music shows, theme parks, family attractions, hotel strips. Falling Stars is the opposite: silence, lake, sky. Branson is great if you want activity. The Canyon is great if you want peace.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the drive from Little Rock to Bull Shoals Lake?
About 3 hours and 175 miles. US-65 North through the Ozarks, then US-62 / US-412 west to Oakland. Mostly two-lane after Harrison — slower than interstate but genuinely scenic.
Is the drive worth it when Greers Ferry is so close?
Depends what you want. Greers Ferry is gorgeous and 90 minutes closer, but it’s also where most of Little Rock weekends. If a weekend at Greers Ferry sometimes feels too busy, Bull Shoals trades an extra hour and a half of road for a much quieter lake — fewer boats, no marina lines, more shoreline to yourself.
Is the lake actually clean?
Yes. Bull Shoals is rated Class AAA water clarity (the highest classification) and is one of the cleanest large lakes in the country. You can see your feet in six feet of water on most days. The White River tailwater below the dam runs cold and clear year-round — the trout fishing is internationally regarded.
How does this compare to going to Branson?
Different category of trip. Branson is country music shows, family theme parks, hotel strips on a busy highway. Falling Stars is six private domes on the quiet side of Bull Shoals Lake, no neighbors, dark skies. If your idea of a weekend involves a Dolly Parton tribute show, Branson is your spot. If it involves a hot tub under the Milky Way, this is.
Are the domes set up for fishing trips?
The location is, absolutely — Bull Shoals Lake and the White River tailwater are minutes away, and the area is built for it (local marinas, boat ramps, fly shops in nearby Lakeview/Mountain Home/Cotter). The domes themselves are full-comfort accommodations, not fishing cabins — but you can absolutely drive in from a day on the water and have a hot tub and a real bed waiting.
Can I see the Milky Way from the property?
On a clear night, yes — easily. The Bull Shoals area sits in a near-zero light pollution zone, which is why the property is named Falling Stars. From your dome’s hot tub on a moonless night you can see the full sweep of the galaxy. Doesn’t happen anywhere near Little Rock.
Are there restaurants or bars on property?
No. Each dome has a full kitchenette. Oakland and Mountain Home (15-30 minutes away) have local restaurants — old-school Ozarks places, no chains. The point of the property is “you came to be at the lake,” not “you came to bar hop.”
Is this kid-friendly?
The property generally is, yes. Lake activities, hiking, stargazing — kids love it. Specific dome configurations vary; ask at booking which dome best fits your group size.
What about cell service and internet?
Cell is reliable in most spots on the property; signal can dip in the deepest part of a few coves. Wi-Fi on property is fast and reliable across all six domes.
